Level I - Required only once as initial training for referees with 1 year or less experience.
Participants receive closely supervised on-court training and actual game experience during their training. Off-court training involves detailed studies of the rules, referee signals, duties of an official, officiating procedures and officiating positioning systems.
NOTE: The CHSIHL cannot guarantee Level I graduates a position on the officiating staff of their high school division of choice within the CHSIHL league schedule. Beginning Level I participants are more likely to begin within the Middle School or High School Junior Varsity divisions while they work toward advancement to an advanced Level I or Level II ranking.
Level II - Required for "Rank Level" advancement for referee with a minimum of 1-2 years experience.
This training is designed for referees with previous Level I certification and training and that have 1 or 2 years of officiating experience. Emphasis is placed on knowledge of the rules, skill development and the technical aspects of officiating.
Participation in this comprehensive training program will allow officials with limited experience to greatly improve their knowledge of the rules and elevate their on-court abilities in a very short period of time. Graduates will leave the training better able to function as a linesman at the most proficient level of high school inline hockey and preparation for high school varsity competition. Graduates also receive their AAU and CHSIHL League certification for the 2007/2008 hockey season.
